As SVBKVLT is now online and picking up speed, we have put together a little compilation of choice cuts from our current releases as well as previews of forthcoming SVBKVLT material and some upfront tracks from some of our favorite local producers, including the first taste of Laura Ingalls’ killer cassette release, some fresh beats from Downstate and Hamacide, TzuSing’s first officially released track, a stunning preview of Bent Lynchpin’s (Caliph8’s band) forthcoming debut and SLV’v deadly VIP version of ‘Killers’, as well as a few other tracks featured on our first few cassette releases. The comp comes in the form of a digital download card, designed by Kim Laughton, and only 300 have been made, with around 150 already given out around Tokyo last weekend. We have put aside a bunch of these cards to give out to the first 100 people at this Saturday’s Sub-Culture / Stockholm Syndrome collab at Shelter with Jimmy Edgar. Get down early!

Tracklist:

  1. Caliph8 – Mis-shapen Clouded Figure
  2. SLV – Killers VIP
  3. Hamacide – The Ghoul That Went West (demo)
  4. Downstate – Bodies
  5. Bent Lynchpin – Rude Mental
  6. TzuSing – Rabid4Love
  7. Red-I – Red Edit
  8. Laura Ingalls – 7 Oscillators Of Reason

@ The Shelter, 5 yongFu LU

Line Up: Sean Canty (A/V set), Caliph8,TzuSing, Drunk Monk, Faded Ghost, Kim Laughton

Entrance: 60rmb

Sub-Culture and Stockholm Syndrome join forces to bring you the first in a series of special events and are excited to present an A/V set Sean Canty, one half of Demdike Stare and Pre-Cert / Dead Cert Home Entertainment label boss!

Demdike Stare is the occult themed collaboration between Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker. Using the stepping stones of vinyl and VHS history as inspiration, and obscure hardware as the means, Demdike Stare create ethereal music that emanates from the unconscious. Fusing starkly different musical backgrounds, Sean hails from the Finder’s Keeper’s stable, and Miles through his numerous techno orientated monikers, they blend the two distinct worlds and genre obfuscation becomes the norm.

Joining Sean for our first collaboration will be Manila’s master of beats – Caliph8! Caliph’s live mpc shows are something of legend in Asia, and his band ‘Bent Lynchpin’ are destined for big things very soon. SVBKVLT will be releasing Caliph’s entry to their beat cassette series on the night, get down early to grab one of only 40 copies!

Saturday 14th January – Sub-Culture: Immersiv

Line Up: Immersiv (visuals), Tzu Sing, Drunk Monk, dji, Steven Lorenz, ChaCha, Didje, George Wyndham

Entrance: 40rmb

For the first Sub-Culture of 2012 we thought we’d kick things off a little different and, instead of a musical headliner, this months guests will be visual artists Immersiv from Germany.

Experimental film maker Deveroe Aurel & designer Robin Steps, AKA Immersiv, are two visual artists who have been working together since 2010. Using computer generated video sources and custom build 3D models, they synchronise their visual world with the music to create a completely new audio/visual experience. Having taken over clubs in Berlin and all around Europe, its their time to infect Shanghai’s Shelter!

Joining the Sub-Culture crew behind the decks will be Stockholm Syndrome’s Tzu Sing
