Slowly trying to get back up to speed with the blog but a sudden move of house has been dragging us down the last few weeks, during which time we have been listening to the two great mixes from future SVBKVLT Beat Tape artists Red-I (Manila) and Floyd Cheung (Hong Kong).
First up is a killer mix of beats by Red-I, all of which only sampling old dusty Thai records and sounding something like a Muay Thai clash between Onra and RZA. Deadly stuff
Next up is a great selection that Hong Kong’s Floyd Cheung has done for Actual Facts podcast series. Smooth jams to ease the pain of packing up all your shit and moving to a new place.
Both Red and Floyd have SVBKVLT beat cassettes coming out in April, both of which are absolute killers! More info soon…
To get things on track for this weekend, Sub-Culture’s Steven Lorenz recorded this heavy-weight mix live at last night’s Sub-Cinema at Dada. Deep, subby vibes, the perfect mid-week bass massage. Play loud!
Steven will be playing this Saturday with vocal support from ChaCha, Didje and Ubec at The Shelter, alongside Kode9, Acid Pony Club & TzuSing live, and much more! Dont miss!
To kick off the week and to start getting warmed up for this weekend, heres an exclusive mix from Scratcha DVA for Sub-Culture! Scratcha inaugurates the first Sub-Culture Beijing this Friday at Beijing Dada Bar and then heads to The Shelter Shanghai on Saturday night. Deadly, futurist house direct from London!
As we mentioned yesterday, tonight, down at The Shelter, begins a brand new series of events – TIMEFLY. Check out this fresh mix from Blaise Deville showcasing the sounds you should expect to hear tonight! Heavy stuff!
Coming up this weekend Sub-Culture are proud to host the official Shanghai launch party for Europe’s biggest bass festival Outlook. We will have more info later in the week about Outlook itself, but to get things warmed up here’s a great mix from our guest artist, Lucky Me Collective’s CLAUDE SPEEED, that he did for Black Athena/www.thisisluckyme.com. As we start to get hyped for this Saturday’s Sub-Culture with Doc Daneeka @ The Shelter, it’s probably about time we unleash this short teaser mix that the Doc has put together for us to give a little taster of what to expect! Straight, upfront, future vibes!
Massive thanks to everyone who came out to Kode9 last weekend, was a seriously good night and the Burial lock in earlier in the evening was fantastic. We’ll definitely be doing something similar again soon.
We are going into hibernation for a few weeks as we finally have some down time, but we will be sporadically posting up things here are there that we are enjoying/looking forward to. Here’s a brand new mix from one of our favorite pair of artists from the last few years, Demdike Stare. Something a little freaky for a cold Tuesday afternoon. They have just released the first part of there 4 LP/2 CD set entitled Elemental and it sounds fantastic! Bag it here
